About the brand｜ユニバーサルジュネーブ

1894年、スイス・ル・ロックル。時計学校を出たばかりの二人の青年、デコンブとペレが興した工房が始まりです。1919年にジュネーブへ移り、以後この街の名を社名に冠しています。

のちにロイヤルオークやノーチラスを手がけるジェラルド・ジェンタが、まだ無名だった1954年に設計したのがユニバーサルのポールルーター。1965年には厚さ2.3mm、当時世界最薄の自動巻きを積んだシャドウを発表しました。

そのユニバーサルが、70年代にクォーツへ舵を切り、自動巻きを手放します。ブランドはその後長く市場から姿を消しました。知的財産が買い戻され、復活が動き出したのは2023年のことです。

A slim dress watch from Universal Genève that has gone beyond being a watch and become a complete piece of design.

A smoky sunburst gradient dissolves from the centre outwards, holding the warm and faintly decadent air of the 1970s inside a small dial.

— Sharpened thinness —

29 × 33mm. The gently curved tonneau case is astonishingly slim and produces a real unity with the wrist.

Inside is the celebrated slim hand-wound calibre 1-42, its construction cut back to the minimum — nothing less than proof of Universal Genève's technical standing at the time.

— A changing era —

The cool texture of stainless steel against the downbeat colour of the dial. Nearly fifty years on, the modern bearing has not faded.

With ornament refused and quality pursued instead, this two-hand watch suits an adult who would rather enjoy their own time quietly.
