— A presence given off by its form —
A 35.5mm round case.
Teardrop fancy lugs leave a strong impression at the wrist.
The dial, built for legibility, carries a small seconds together with month and day counters.
All of it is drawn large and clear.
— Operation linked to what you see —
Press the pusher at two and the month, in red numerals, switches over.
The way the numerals come down slowly is a quiet movement, like a page-a-day calendar.
The pusher at four sends the red pointer date dancing around the outer date ring.
A moment where function and form become one.
— A crossing of engineering —
In 1938 Jaeger-LeCoultre took Vacheron into its group, and joint development of complications began.
The Cal.484, born on the base of the Cal.449, was one result.
This Cal.12½ LC was born as a further refinement of it.
Inheriting the thinking of the Chronomètre Royal, it is a design balancing complication and accuracy.
Uncompromising handwork lives in it, and the engineering of LeCoultre and Vacheron crosses here.
— An expression drawn by the mechanism —
The movement is 28.5mm across.
Beautiful Côtes de Genève decoration is applied, with thorough finishing right down into details nobody will see.
A curved bridge in the Jura style supports the second, third and fourth wheels together, with a large screwed balance and a bridge over the barrel showing the ratchet wheel.
All of it beautifully arranged in space, speaking as form.
