The Datejust is the standard model with overwhelming name recognition within Rolex.
An ivory computer dial model, of which very few circulate, has arrived.
The Datejust appeared in 1945 as the world's first watch to combine an Oyster case, a Perpetual mechanism and a date display at three o'clock, and in 1955 it gained the Datejust mechanism, in which the date changes instantly.
All three of Rolex's great inventions came together in it.
A popular model among antique Datejusts, with a beautifully cut fluted bezel in 18k yellow gold.
Compared with the previous model (ref.1601/3) there were no major design changes, but the movement changed from the Cal.1570 to the Cal.3035, a high-beat movement at eight beats per second.
A quick date-change function was also added, making time-setting considerably more efficient.
In recent years the popularity of the antique Datejust has been rising, thanks to a calm, warm design that current models do not have.
