Seiko's automatic chronographs of the 1970s were a point of national pride, and the Hulk-coloured Speed Timer stands out even among them.

The vivid green sunray dial shows the depth of a forest one moment and the brightness of an emerald the next: colour of a kind only vintage Seiko produced.

— The 70 series —

The movement is the celebrated calibre 7015A, with a rotating bezel and a flyback function that moves from one measurement straight into the next — the concentrated technology of the day.

— 1973, remembered —

The serial "3N" places this example in November 1973. The heat of Japan's growth years, and the ambition of a watch industry taking on the world, are packed into this piece of stainless steel.

The sharply cut case lines and the original bracelet do a great deal for the pleasure of owning it.

An inner bezel crossing in vivid orange and yellow, against green. More than a measuring instrument; near enough a piece of design in its own right.
