The Polerouter, one of Universal Genève's defining watches, was made in 1954 to mark the opening of Scandinavian Airlines' polar route.

The design was drawn by Gérald Genta at the age of twenty-three, and half a century later it is still one of the symbols of the vintage world.

— Universal Genève returns —

On 8 April 2026, at 21:00 Japan time, Universal Genève broke a long silence and brought the Polerouter back as a current model.

— A name from the North Pole —

It was first called "Polarrouter", after the air route that crossed the North Pole, and was renamed "Polerouter" soon afterwards.

Universal Genève had made its name with chronographs; this is the model that brought it a second reputation in slim watches.

— The micro-rotor calibre 1-69 —

This example carries the micro-rotor calibre 1-69, effectively the maker's signature. It solved the winding efficiency that had been the micro-rotor's weakness and opened up what a slim automatic could be.

The trapezoidal date aperture quietly records how carefully the design was considered.

— The "U" in the crystal —

Look at the small dome at the centre of the crystal under a loupe and you will find a "U" for Universal Genève. It appears only on period crystals, and is a valuable confirmation of originality.
