LEMANIA Multi-Tachymeter Chronograph (snail dial), 1950s

— Time on a long scale —

A wheat-coloured snail tachymeter rising out of a deep, glossy black dial. This is a historic Lemania chronograph, made in the 1940s and 50s for a limited number of pilots and engineers.

Syringe hands, beautifully faded by the years, carry a dignity that a current watch cannot reproduce at any price.

— A famous line —

Open the case back and there is calibre Lemania 1275, from the maker whose family of chronograph movements later produced the calibre 321 that went to the moon in the first Speedmaster. The traditional column wheel meshing precisely is the concentrated form of Lemania's technical standing at the time.

The square pushers have a satisfying action and hand back the luxury of operating a machine yourself.

A steel case, blunt and graceful at once. Inside the case back, perlage applied by hand at the time survives vividly.
