A Constellation Chronometer with a remarkably good dial has arrived.
The wedge indexes shine.
The case shows little thinning, the bezel edges stand crisply, and the proportions are good.
The calibre 505 fitted here was Omega's first full-rotor chronometer-certified movement.
It is the kind of machine only vintage Omega has, winding with a fine ratcheting sound, and its appeal is that it is easy to live with day to day.
The Constellation, whose name means a group of stars, was announced in 1952 and remains one of Omega's principal models today.
It is the model that showed Omega's answer to the question of what a technically excellent dress watch should be.
Simple yet elegant and dignified, its design is highly regarded.
