— Where the name GST comes from —
The series name GST comes from the initials of its case materials.
G for gold, S for stainless, T for titanium.
Announced in 1997 and discontinued in 2003.
More than fifteen years after its announcement it retains a strong following.
— Where quartz and mechanical cross —
The Cal. JLC631 fitted here is a mecaquartz movement developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Alongside quartz-controlled timekeeping, the chronograph mechanism is mechanically driven.
So the small seconds steps while the chronograph seconds sweeps.
It was fitted to several models besides the IWC GST Chronograph, including the Portofino and the Da Vinci SL.
— Sharp structural beauty —
The dial is black with a three-dimensional construction.
White lettering and white hands secure high legibility.
Showy ornament is done away with, leaving a composed face in which functional beauty stands out.
— Usefulness and dignity —
A watch that works whatever the occasion, in a meeting or out of the office.
Operating the chronograph is purely mechanical.
A watch with a definite presence, balancing accuracy and quality of feel.
