A new wind blew through watch design in the 1960s, and the Certina Argonaut is one of its clearer examples. A square case of 33 × 39mm with nothing wasted, built from straight lines and gentle curves, carries real presence — and the avant-garde air of its decade settles easily into present-day wear.

— A quiet silver face —

A silver dial with fine vertical brushing. Raised markers and baton hands with their luminous material beautifully intact give it both legibility and refinement. The dial changes in small ways with the light, which makes it oddly difficult to stop looking at.

— A Swiss heart —

Certina's own calibre 25-66, from the years the company was at its best: a 17-jewel hand-wound movement still keeping precise, strong time. Winding it is where the pleasure of owning a mechanical watch tends to begin.
