The Centenary collection was launched for dunhill's hundredth anniversary, bringing the Art Deco spirit of the house's golden years back through modern savoir-faire. A stainless steel case built on straight lines with a soft swelling at each corner: modest, and definitely present.

— Detail that stays —

Arabic indices in a substantial font sit in good order on a hairline-finished silver dial, under hands flame-blued to a depth of colour only heat produces. The tone shifts with the light, which is a small pleasure each time the hour is read.

— British structure —

"MECHANICAL" on the case back refers to the hand-wound calibre ETA 2660. The resistance under the fingers and the faint click of the crown turn winding into a conversation with the watch.

— Proportions that last —

At 24.6 × 24.6mm this is calculated dress proportion, intelligent under a business cuff and refined with a jacket.

Among the houses gathered at SIHH, dunhill stood out as a luxury brand that was not a watch specialist — and its watches, with the aesthetic properly applied, are no longer easy to overlook.
