This dial has decayed to the point where it no longer announces the hour.
The indexes have dissolved, and even the shadows of the hands waver uncertainly.
And still we look closely.
Citizen began selling KINDER TIME in 1968 as a watch for children's education: a special wristwatch designed to make reading the time a doorway into learning.
What its name held was the wish to pass the concept of time on to children — an object of form born for education.
A 26mm case.
Originally designed to sit on a child's wrist: a small, gentle size.
That restrained outline carries an honesty proper to a tool for learning, and a form that put function and thinking ahead of decoration.
Not a return that recovers a former shine, but a choice to keep going while carrying what has been lost — a watch that embodies one way of being vintage.
