— The dawn of the ébauche —
Excelsior Park took root in Saint-Imier in 1866.
Carrying the craft of timekeeping, the founder's sons took over in 1888; in 1891 the firm obtained a patent for a chronograph pocket watch and built its manufacturing base with around thirty technicians.
Founded in 1866, Excelsior Park was a distinguished chronograph house. The legendary ébauche maker behind celebrated movements for Gallet and Girard-Perregaux. A model carrying the firm's own name — exceptionally scarce on the market. Functional beauty woven from robust construction and refined mechanism. A supreme chronograph piece whose name is written permanently into watchmaking history.
— A pulse within the great houses —
From the 1940s into the 1950s, the firm's own movements were supplied to Gallet and Girard-Perregaux and became the hearts of those names; those fitted to Gallet in particular still run hot on the vintage market.
Models carrying the firm's own name, as this one does, are by no means numerous. Cal.4, Cal.8, Cal.40, Cal.42 and Cal.4-68 make up the lineage.
— Even after the curtain fell —
Supported by robust finishing and durability, the firm's expertise in stopwatches and chronographs remains deeply written into chronograph history and into the memory of enthusiasts, even though the curtain came down in 1984.
