The Citizen Homer was born as a lower-priced version of the New Master.

Selling the same movement under a different pet name was a rational approach, and one that became common later.

The New Master came with a dedicated leather strap, but for reasons of cost this was switched to the Homer in 1961.

— The sound of an era —

The name Homer came from the baseball boom of the day, carrying the sense of a home run — a big hit.

An emblematic pet name reflecting the air of its period.

— A past as a trade-test watch —

The Homer Date carried a simple calendar mechanism and sold in large numbers.

Unusual versions exist with the calendar window at four o'clock or at half past one.

Cases vary widely: four-screw types, pocket-watch types, versions with crystal glass.

It was also used as the test piece for watch repair trade examinations, with movements whose gold and silver plating was reversed for identification.
