ROLEX Datejust ref.16220 cal.3135 / Grey Dial, Engine-Turned Bezel

The Datejust is a long-selling model that Rolex has produced over a very long period.

Given its popularity, surprisingly few come onto the market with this calm grey dial; with a beautifully cut stainless steel engine-turned bezel, it gives off a chic kind of luxury.

Ref.16234 was the white gold two-tone Datejust that appeared in 1988.

Compared with the previous model (ref.16030), the movement changed from the Cal.3035, whose balance is supported by a single bridge, to the twin-bridge Cal.3135, further improving durability.

The Cal.3135, renowned in the industry as an excellent movement, went on to be used in a wide range of models.

There were no major changes on the design side, but the crystal changed from hardened plastic to sapphire, giving a more modern face, while sealing improved and water resistance reached 100m.
